"If you’re dealing with immigrants,
and if you understood that the fact,
that these persons cross borders, shows their great autonomy, to
which we want to refer in a political way which has nothing to do
with the fact, that they are refugees, victims of expulsion, torture
or really bad capitalism and so on, because this kind of explanation
deprives human beings of their subjectivity - as the leftists normally
thought about or to a large extent still think, what then leads
to this queer kind of assistance racism or this pitying, church-asylum-like
“we help them to a certain extent”, where however the
relationship remains clearly defined, who is here able to help,
who specifies here, how long this assistance will hold on and when
it will hold on no longer and according to which criteria help is
dispensed - then all this shapes the way of thinking about the world.“
